raizn is the first social network focused solely around philanthropy. Its purpose is to create a
visibility around global goodwill and to encourage people to give frequently through social micro-
donations.
raizn employs a 100% funding model. This means that the only “expense” on your donation is a
processing fee, which has been drastically reduced, courtesy of our partners at Stripe. In return,
you receive a tax deductible receipt for the entire amount of your donation, each time you give.
raizn won’t ever charge its donor community or charities for being a part of the network. Instead,
the platform will rely on traditional funding methods to constantly improve the community’s
experience and offer new and exciting features to help you make a difference.
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world”
- Mahatma Gandhi
Raizn wants to create a community of kind hearted, generous, compassionate and thoughtful philanthropists. Our goal in setting out “guidelines” is to create the most powerful and user-friendly way to donate, while keeping things positive, social and fun.
A few things NOT to do:
Threats:
Never threaten to harm a person, group of people, or their property.
Intimidating people is not okay.
Treat others as you’d like them to treat you (easier said than done on social media these days, but we’re hopeful)
Harassment, bullying, or spamming:
This one should be simple: Do not bother or make other people feel bad on purpose.
If someone blocks you, it’s not okay to contact them from another account.
Impersonation
Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not—including celebrities, brands, or other organizations. We reserve the right to deactivate your account if we suspect this is the case.
A few things TO do:
Donate:
Help make the world a better place and give small amounts each day. Remember, there’s badges, milestones and most importantly your goodwill profile that will only grow and get better with age. Plant these seeds and watch your impact grow.
Social Sharing:
Share your donation activities on raizn through other social media channels (facebook, twitter). Remember, the whole point is to help others through charitable giving and the more visibility these charities receive, the more donations will end up coming in and the more impact they’ll be able to achieve. Let your friends know that you’re a philanthropist at raizn and that they should embrace this movement as well.
Match:
Match your friends donations and show them your support. Luckily, we’ve made this super simple and fun. You’ll both feel great and it truly takes the “thumbs up” icon to a whole new level. We’re excited about our match button and hope you like it too.
Discover:
Learn about new charities, read their impact updates and use our “Surprise Me” button if you don’t have time. You’re sure to land on a great organization supporting an even greater cause.
Invite:
Let your contacts know that you’re on raizn. The goal is to create massive giving through small scale donations and interactions. Just think what even $1 a day could do if we all gave.
Interesting Fact: in 2015, GenY gave an average of $42 to charity through a mobile device. That’s 11 cents a day! We’re excited to give this generation the tools to knock that number out of the park!
Search for a user on our platform...
With over 1.5 million registered charities in the United States alone, choosing the right one can be a daunting task. We’ve made it simple through curation. The charities you see on raizn are the most responsible, effective, trustworthy and efficient global non-profits who all have a long standing track record of delivering on the programs they’ve dedicated their lives to. Despite popular belief, the charity system isn’t broken and these organizations are living proof of that.
We’ve also made sure that our users don’t ever feel solicited or burdened by fundraising calls — we believe that the best giving happens without being asked. Because of this, charities on raizn don’t receive your email addresses and can only communicate with users through raizn, when those users follow them. Need a break from communication? Simply tap “unfollow”. In short, we simply want to make giving feel great.

If you’re a registered charity and would like to speak with us, or if you’re a donor and your favourite charity isn’t here, please get in touch.
we’re building a positive and potentially world changing social networking product and are
looking for talented developers, graphic designers, UX/UI designers, software engineers, data
scientists, psychologists, philanthropy professionals and yes, we love interns too!
if that sounds like you, please send us an email and let us tell you why we’re special.

What are your processing fees?
Raizn acts as a marketplace between donors and charities but does not take ANY cuts or percentages from user donations or from the charities on the
network. In addition, Raizn has partnered with Stripe to lower their usual transaction fee of 2.9% + 30 cents down to a level more appropriate for micro-donations and non-profits. The following is a framework for how processing fees come off on micro-donations.
Micro Donations (<$25)
CA = 2.35% + 5 cents / transaction
US = 2.75% + 10 cents / transaction
Regular Transactions (>$25)
CA = 2.30% + 10 cents / transaction
US = 2.70% + 20 cents / transaction
Can I get a refund for a donation? What about if my child used my phone?
Unfortunately, your micro (and macro) donations to charity on raizn are non-refundable. All non-profits on raizn are highly rated and legal bound to use all funds raised in the intent stated for maximum impact. We’ve made sure of this and as such we simply can’t process refunds on behalf of our partners. Please make sure to always have your phone secured with a passcode and stored safely.
About Raizn?
Raizn is a mobile app-enabled network where donors can seamlessly connect and donate to a curated selection of international charities, instantly manage tax receipts, follow and match their friends donations and build their philanthropic footprint in what we like to call “positive social media”. Raizn is a Canadian social enterprise registered in the province of British Columbia, under the legal name: Raizn Network Inc. Raizn operates under a 100% funding model, meaning the company doesn’t take any fees from donor donations and donors get receipts for 100% of their donations.
How do you decide which charities get on Raizn?
Raizn spends a great deal of time researching, speaking with and ultimately selecting which non-profits should be granted profile access on the platform. We look at various aspects of their organizational structure, operations and program efficiencies, ratings on charity websites such as Charity Navigator and historical performance and achievements. With 1.5 million registered non-profits in the US alone, choosing the right charity can be pain staking. We take the guess work out so you can give safely and with complete peace of mind.
What does the ‘Match’ function do?
Excellent question. A match is the greatest show of support one user can give to another on raizn. It simply means that one donor is supporting another by matching their exact donation to the exact same charity. We’ve chosen to focus on micro-donations for this very reason and we always say, it’s better to give $2 per day than $14 per week, simply due to our matching feature.
Why can’t I comment on donation posts before matching?
We mean it when we say that actions speak louder than words, and in today’s sea of social media content, we want our users to first show their support before leaving a comment. This also prevents trolling significantly and keeps our network as positive as possible.
What is my Raizn score?
Every user has a raizn score and achieving a high multiplier involves a high degree of fundraising. We calculate this number by adding together a user’s personal donations and all the matching donations that have resulted through their original donations to come up with a total “footprint” amount. We then divide this number by the users personal donations to get a multiplier. The key to achieving a high raizn score is to ensure that more people match you on every donation. This can be done by always using your social share buttons when donating on raizn, and letting your friends know that it’s important for them to match your donations. Create circles with family, friends or co-workers and build each other up — this is the magic behind your raizn score.
I would love to see (insert charity) on Raizn, how can I ask to have them added?
In settings, you can visit the “wishlist” and up-vote or down-vote charities. You can also input your own and if enough users recommend the same charity, you’ll see it populate on the list. We actively watch this list and you can rest assured that we’re most likely already speaking with the top 3 at any point in time.
Why was my comment deleted?
As per our Terms of Service, hateful or spammy comments will be automatically deleted, either by our algorithm or through user suggestions. Please keep your comments positive as it creates a better experience for all of our users.

Last Modified: September, 2016
Raizn Network Inc. is a fast and fun way to donate to a curated selection of some of the worlds greatest non-profit charities. In addition, we’ve made it very simple to match friends donations, follow charities you care about and interact with the raizn community and throughout the rest of social media land in a much more meaningful way than simply posting selfies. We’ve spent a great deal of time offering these services to you while focusing heavily on user experience.
When you use these services—and any others we roll out—you’ll inevitably share some information with us. We get that that can affect your privacy. So we want to be upfront about the information we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and the choices we give you to control, access, and update your information.
We want to also say that we’re big believers in public philanthropy and highly against giving anonymously. As a result, donation amounts and such financial details will always be public domain on raizn. We do this with great purpose as it helps spread awareness and increases visibility to all of the charities on raizn and the causes they’re working hard on. Giving publicly simply makes sense in the 21st century and we like to think we’re leading the way.
That’s why we’ve written this privacy policy. We’ve tried to simplify it a great deal so that everyone can read and understand the nature of our intent. Of course, if you still have questions about anything in our privacy policy, just contact us.
Information We Collect
There are three basic ways we collect information:
Information you choose to give us.
Information we get when you use our services.
Information we get from third parties.
Here’s a little more detail on each of these categories.
Information You Choose to Give Us
When you interact with our services, we collect the information that you choose to share with us. For example, most of our services require you to set up a basic Raizn account, so we need to collect a few important details about you, such as: a unique username you’d like to go by, a password, an email address and your country of residence. To make it easier for others to find you, we may also ask you to provide us with some additional information that will be publicly visible on our services, such as profile pictures, a name, or other useful identifying information. Other services, such as donating products, may also require you to provide us with a debit or credit card number and its associated account information.
Of course, you’ll also provide us whatever information you send through the services, such as donations and comments. Please remember that we are dealing with the internet after all and donation posts or comments can be saved or screenshot by others. Use responsibly and don’t create content you wouldn’t want being shared or saved.
It probably goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: When you contact Raizn Support or communicate with us in any other way, we’ll collect whatever information you volunteer.
Information We Get When You Use Our Services
When you use our services, we collect information about which of those services you’ve used and how you’ve used them. We might know, for instance, that you visited various charity pages, liked certain posts or matched certain users. Here is some more details on this.

Content Information. We collect information about the content you provide, such as if the recipient has viewed the content, interacted with the content, and the metadata that is provided with the content.
Payment and Stripe. Stripe Connect powers the backend of our application and as such they collect and securely store your payment details in compliance with Stripes terms of service and privacy policy, which can be found at https://stripe.com/ca/legal/ As a note: Stripe is one of the safest and most reliable payment processors on the planet and as such, you shouldn’t loose too much sleep over your payment security. We may collect information that other users provide about you when they use our services. For example, if another user allows us to collect information from their device phonebook—and you’re one of that user’s contacts—we may combine the information we collect from that user’s phonebook with other information we have collected about you. We may also obtain information from other companies that are owned or operated by us, or any other third-party sources, and combine that with the information we collect through our services.
How We Use Information
What do we do with the information we collect? The short answer is: Provide you with an amazing set of products and services that we relentlessly improve. But we do a lot more as well, such as:
develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain, and protect our products and services
communicate with you

enhance the safety and security of our products and services

We may also store some information locally on your device. For example, we may store information as local cache so that you can open the app and view content faster.
How We Share Information
We may share information about you in the following ways:
With other raizn users. We may share the following information with other raizn users:
information about you, such as your username and name, donation totals, charities you support, who you follow and who follows you;
any additional information you have consented for us to share. For example, when you let us access your device phonebook, we may share information about you with other users who have your phone number in their device phonebook; and
content you post or send will be shared with other users; how widely your content is shared depends on your personal settings and usage details.
With all raizn users and the general public. We may share the following information with all raizn users as well as the general public:
public information like your username, full name and profile pictures; and
any content that you submit to raizn.
With our affiliates and charity partners. We may share information with entities within the Raizn family of companies.
With third parties. We may share your information with the following third parties:
With charities, service providers, sellers, and partners. We may share information about you with service providers who perform services on our behalf, sellers that incorporate raizn into their services, and business partners that provide services and functionality.
With third parties for legal reasons. We may share information about you if we reasonably believe that disclosing the information is needed to:
comply with any valid legal process, government request, or applicable law, rule, or regulation;
investigate, remedy, or enforce potential Terms of Service violations;
protect the rights, property, and safety of us, our users, or others; or
detect and resolve any fraud or security concerns.
With third parties as part of a merger or acquisition. If Raizn gets involved in a merger, asset sale, financing, liquidation or bankruptcy, or acquisition of all or some portion of our business to another company, we may share your information with that company before and after the transaction closes.
In the aggregate or after de-identification. We may also share with third parties, such as charities, advertisers, aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
Information You Choose to Share with Third Parties
The services may also contain third-party links and search results, include third-party integrations, or be a co-branded or third-party-branded service that’s being provided jointly with or by another company. By going to those links, using the third-party integration, or using a co-branded or third-party-branded service, you may be providing information (including personal information) directly to the third party, us, or both. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for how those third parties collect or use your information. As always, we encourage you to review the privacy policies of every third-party website or service that you visit or use, including those third parties you interact with through our services.
How Long We Keep Your Content
The donations you make on raizn will live on the network until such time where you no longer become a user or delete your account or get suspended for breaking any of the aforementioned. We may also retain certain information in backup for a limited period of time or as required by law.
Control over Your Information
We want you to be in control of your information, so we provide you with the following tools.
Access and Updates. We strive to let you access and update most of the personal information that we have about you. There are limits though to the requests we’ll accommodate. We may reject a request for a number of reasons, including, for example, that the request risks the privacy of other users, requires technical efforts that are disproportionate to the request, is repetitive, or is unlawful. You can access and update most of your basic account information right in the app by visiting the app’s Settings page in the top right pin wheel. If you need to access, update, or delete any other personal information that we may have, you can put in a request here. Because your privacy is important to us, we may ask you to verify your identity or provide additional information before we let you access or update your personal information. We will try to update and access your information for free, but if it would require a disproportionate effort on our part, we may charge a fee. We will of course disclose the fee before we comply with your request.
Revoking Permissions. If you change your mind about our ongoing ability to collect information from certain sources that you have already consented to, such as your phonebook, payment details or location services, you can simply revoke your consent by changing the settings on your device if your device offers those options. Of course, if you do that, certain services may lose full functionality.
Account Deletion. While we hope you’ll remain a lifelong raizn donor, if for some reason you ever want to delete your account, you can do so. If you ask to delete your account, you will have up to 30 days to restore your account before we delete your information from our servers. During this period of time, your account will not be visible to other users.
Analytics and Advertising Services Provided by Others
Currently, raizn is ad-free but we can’t promise that it will be this way forever. What we can say is that what ever advertising we choose to incorporate will only be done so if the greater good of charitable donations has a chance to increase through such advertising. We will never jeopardize the platform for profit and remain dedicated to eradicating many of the worlds problems in the areas of health, water, hunger, health and poverty through charitable donations. In the future, we may let other companies use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies on the services. These companies may collect information about how you use the services and other websites and online services over time and across different services. This information may be used to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, and better understand your online activity.
Additionally, some companies may use the information they collect on our services to deliver targeted advertisements on behalf of us or other companies, including on third-party websites and apps. Raizn does not currently respond to do-not-track signals that may be sent from your device. If we do so in the future, we will provide information about that practice in an updated version of this privacy policy. For more information about interest-based ads, including how to opt out of having your web-browsing information used for behavioral-advertising purposes, please visit www.aboutads.info/choices.
Users Outside North America
Although we welcome Users from all over the world, keep in mind that no matter where you live or where you happen to use our services, we operate our services at present from Canada. This means that we may collect your personal information from, transfer it to, and store and process it in Canada and other countries whose local data-protection and privacy laws may offer fewer protections than those in your country of residence or from any country where you use or access the services.
Children
Our services are not intended for—and we don’t direct them to—anyone under 13. And that’s why we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Revisions to the Privacy Policy
We may change this privacy policy from time to time. But when we do, we’ll let you know one way or another. Sometimes, we’ll let you know by revising the date at the top of the privacy policy that’s available on our website and mobile application. Other times, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our websites’ homepages or providing you with an in-app notification).
